W13 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

The past couple of weeks have been filled with the idea of giving thanks. Having just celebrated Thanksgiving, that makes sense and is what should be expected. However, this year has been unlike any year before. It would be easy to have a negative attitude going into the holiday season with all the troubles that the world has offered throughout this year. Through a worldwide pandemic and a tumultuous presidential election, it can be difficult to find things to be grateful for.

I greatly appreciated the call to #givethanks on social media from President Nelson. This week, I was able to read words from the late President Thomas S. Monson. He talked about having an “attitude of gratitude”. In spite of all the things that are wrong in the world, we can still be thankful for all that is right. This has been the most stressful year of my life. But I feel that it is ending on a very good note, especially when I reflect on the things that I am grateful for.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessings; name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done. …

Hymn 241: Count Your Blessings

I am grateful for my wife, who gives me the perspective that I need. She has the ability to calm my mind when I’m distressed. Without her, I would be half a man.

I am grateful for my son, who inspires me to be better in every way. I have made a lot of healthy changes in my life in order to be a better example to him.

I am grateful for my parents, who have always been my ultimate supporters. They have my back through any circumstance and would do anything for me, my wife, and my son.

I am grateful for a business and employees who have provided me with much freedom and success. Because of them, I have never worried about not having enough money to pay the bills.

I am grateful for the Lord, Who is patient with me despite my shortcomings. I have felt His presence in my life and always feel watched over and protected.
